Android Device Permissions Disclosure (Google Play)

UNTRAP requests only the minimum device permissions required to scan and analyze exam questions:

  • Camera (android.permission.CAMERA)

Used strictly in the foreground when you actively take photos of exam booklets. Never active in the background.

  • Photos & Media (Photo Picker / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES)

Used only when you select existing exam page images from your device gallery.

  • Internet & Network State

Used over TLS 1.3 encryption to authenticate your account, upload cropped questions, and fetch AI trap analyses.

  • Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID)

Used only on the Free Plan by Google AdMob to display a narrow, non-intrusive banner strip with age-appropriate safeguards. Paid accounts make zero ad requests.

1. Who we are, who may use UNTRAP, and what we collect

UNTRAP ("UNTRAP", "we", "us") is an educational mobile app that analyzes scanned exam booklets and practice tests to show teachers, educators, and students which traps and distractors occurred and which error patterns repeat. UNTRAP is operated by UNTRAP Digital Education (nevertrapped.com), Türkiye. Privacy contact: privacy@nevertrapped.com.

By creating an account or using UNTRAP, you accept this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.

Who may use UNTRAP (Teachers & Students). Adult teachers, educators, tutors, and parents may create accounts to analyze questions and guide learners. Students must be at least 13 years old, or older if the age of digital consent in your country is higher (up to 16 in some countries). Where a higher age applies, you need a parent's, guardian's, or authorized teacher's permission. UNTRAP is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn that we have, we promptly delete the account and its data.

Information we collect:
• Account information: your email address, sign-in identifier, role (Teacher/Student/Parent), and an optional display name. Passwords are handled by our authentication service and are never visible to us in readable form.
• Your content: the images you scan or upload (exam pages, handwriting, notes), the text and answers extracted from them, anything you tap or type in the app, and the analysis UNTRAP generates for you.
• Usage and device information: app version, device model, operating system, language, crash and error logs, and which features you use. We infer only your approximate country from your network address. We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, or microphone audio.
• Purchase information: if you subscribe, Google Play processes the payment. We receive your subscription status, not your card details.
• Advertising data (free plan only): see Section 2.

2. How we use your information and who can see it

We never make your data public, and we never sell it or share it with third parties for their own purposes. Your scans, questions, answers, and analysis are private to your account. They are not posted publicly, not added to any shared question bank, and not shown to other users. The only people who can see your content are you and anyone you choose to share it with (Section 3).

What we use it for:
• To provide UNTRAP: reading your scans, analyzing questions and answers, and showing error patterns, classroom diagnostics, and study suggestions.
• To run and secure the service: sign-in, subscriptions, fixing bugs, preventing abuse, and meeting legal obligations.
• To contact you about your account or this policy. We do not send marketing email unless you opt in.

Teachers & Classroom Use. When teachers or educators scan practice tests, UNTRAP crops individual questions to minimize data collection. Teachers should avoid uploading student full names or sensitive personal records on exam headers. Classroom scans are processed strictly to provide educational diagnostics.

AI processing. To analyze your scans, we send the cropped images or extracted text over encrypted connections to AI models accessed through OpenRouter, Inc. (USA), which routes each request to the model provider that runs it. These providers act only on our instructions, only to produce your analysis, and are contractually barred from using your content to train their models. Using the analysis feature means you consent to this processing. If you do not consent, the analysis feature cannot work. Analysis results are generated automatically and can be wrong: treat them as study and teaching guidance, not as an official evaluation or professional advice.

Service providers. We use trusted providers that only process data for us to host the app, store files, authenticate users, and process subscriptions through Google Play. They are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations and may not use your data for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Advertising (free plan). The free plan shows a narrow ad strip. We do not give advertisers or ad networks your scans, answers, analysis, or account details. Ads on the free plan are provided by Google AdMob, which may collect your device's advertising identifier and basic device data to serve ads under Google's own privacy policy and age-appropriate ad protections. Paid subscribers see no ads.

Improving UNTRAP and research. We do not use your scans or content to train AI models. If we ever offer an optional setting to contribute content for improvement or research, it will be off by default and require your separate consent. We would then publish only fully anonymized, aggregate results, never your raw content.

3. Your content: your responsibility and your rights

You are responsible for what you upload. By accepting this policy, you confirm that you own the content you upload or have the right to use it for study or classroom instruction, that it does not violate anyone's rights or any law, and that you will not upload content you are not allowed to copy or store, including material that infringes copyright or contains other people's private information without permission. Practice booklets and exam questions are often protected by copyright held by publishers or exam bodies: you are responsible for how you use them. Do not use UNTRAP during a live exam or to cheat.

You keep ownership. Your content stays yours. You give UNTRAP only a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process it, solely to provide the service to you. That license ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from short backup periods (Section 4).

You control sharing. You can retrieve your own uploads and analyses from your account at any time, and you can share them only with people you choose. We never share your content with anyone on our own initiative. What you share outside the app is outside our control.

Copyright and removal requests. If you believe content in UNTRAP infringes your rights, email privacy@nevertrapped.com with the details and we will review it promptly and remove content where appropriate. We may suspend accounts that repeatedly upload infringing or unlawful content.

4. Retention, account & data deletion, your rights, security, and contact

Retention and deletion. We keep your account and content until you delete them or close your account. You can delete individual scans or your whole account inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account), via our web portal at https://nevertrapped.com/delete-account/, or by emailing privacy@nevertrapped.com. We permanently delete your active data within 30 days of a request. Encrypted backups may keep copies for up to 90 days more, then they are overwritten. We may keep minimal records where the law requires it (for example, payment records).

Your rights. Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and withdraw consent at any time (withdrawing does not affect earlier processing). Depending on your country, you may also have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, Türkiye's KVKK, South Korea's PIPA, Japan's APPI, or US state privacy laws, including the right to complain to your data protection authority. We do not sell personal information, and we do not discriminate against you for using your rights. To use a right, email privacy@nevertrapped.com. We reply within 30 days.

Security. We use TLS encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest, strict access controls, and limit who can reach production data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

International transfers. UNTRAP is available worldwide and our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including Türkiye, the EU, and the United States. Where required, we use legal safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

Children. UNTRAP is not for children under 13 (or the higher age in Section 1). Parents or educators who believe a child under the required age has created an account can email us to have it deleted immediately.

Changes. If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. The effective date above shows the latest version.
